Finished testing on the Scale trains operator BNSF SD40-2. And an Atlas China SP&S RS-3. These both add to the testing data bases. Video reports are in process. These two are moving on to the second phase activity. They join the P2K NP SW-1200, Atlas Kato NP RS-3 & the Rapido CN RS-18 in this level of activity. The second phase consists of clean, lub & tune. Several have indicated that this can have significant impact on performance and pulling capability.
there are at least two other phases in this activity for this five engine set. The third phase will be to remove or neutralize the factory electronics. The fourth phase will include weight variations.
One or two of these engines will be carried on to adding digital electronics, DCC & Rail Pro modules.
In addition, two of the engines used in the motor variation series will be used to verify the implied draw bar force improvements that were seen there actually show up in train length. Does it hold at higher grades? That will be interesting results.
