The initial test runs were made with the base N scale freight cars. The plan has been expanded based on the truck & wheel set variations that are on hand. The number of different truck brands as expanded to five, Trix, AHM, Bachmann, Atlas & MTL.
the number of brands of wheel sets has increased to eight or nine. Several have metal wheels. The objective is to try to run every wheelset brand in every truck brand.
These tests are being done in groups of five cars. After two cycles it is clear that not all truck/ wheelset combinations would roll down the inclined track. Exactly why they do not run is not clear .
Also interestingly some of these failing wheelsets have metal wheels. The plan is to continue as is until all combinations have been tested. Hopefully, at that point it will identify if the reason for the failure is truck dominated or wheelset dominated.
A that time tuning of the trucks will be considered.
This first round of testing should be complete in a few days. Will post those results when appropriate.
